A client was not feeling that comfortable with their current hosts backup policies and enforcement, so they asked us to setup a backup as a “fire-insurance”, just-in-case disaster recovery.
To do this, we needed to get the website and database backed up, off-site. We also strongly leaned towards an hands-off, automated setup so that it does not rely on a person having to remember to do the backup.
As a result, we’ve developed a solution that can backup your entire site and database files incrementally to a remote server. Security mechanisms are in place to minimize risk of attacks on one server from getting through to the other. All data transferred is encrypted. Only new/changed files or database tables are transmitted. We also keep files deleted from the primary server, (the one being backed up), for a specifiable time period. The backup can run however frequently or in-frequently as needed.
If you need to have your website and/or home network data backed up to an off-site location, give us a call, we can help you out! This works great for home businesses as well, for example we have a double backup system whereby our computer harddrives backup to a local server, which then also backs up to a remote server – we can access most of our files, securely, from almost anywhere and are extremely unlikely to loose our data as a result of a disaster.
